Actions : Cholagogue, hepatic, alterative, laxative, diuretic, anti-inflammatory. Indications : This herb is used widely in the treatment of skin diseases, aiding the skin by working through the liver, the main detoxifying organ of the body. It may be used in skin eruptions, including sores that do not heal, eczema and psoriasis, used as a valuable part of a wider treatment. It may also be used when there is constipation due to liver congestion.It is especially good for clearing the glandular system, lymphatics, liver and gall ducts, as well as the intestinal glands. Historically it has been used for facial neuralgia, muscular atrophy and other wastings of the tissues. Preparations & Dosage : Decoction: put l teaspoonful of the dried herb into a cup of water and bring to a boil. Let it simmer for l0-l5 minutes. This should be drunk three times a day. Tincture: take 1/2 teaspoon of the tincture three times a day.
