How Much Henna Should I Use?
Henna may be applied to damp or dry hair that is clean. Towel dry if needed. Apply cream or oil around the hairline, ears, and neck to avoid staining your skin. Mix the henna with warm water, approximately 104 degrees, and stir to make the creamy textured paste. Separate hair into one inch thick sections. Using a brush, begin at the scalp and paint henna paste onto hair from roots to ends. Continue applying until all hair is thickly coated with the henna mixture. Place a cotton or tissue band around the hairline. Cover hair with a shower cap.
Timing by color:
Rinse hair thoroughly with clean water. Allow to air dry.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
For external use only. Do not use around the eyes or on cut or abraded scalp. Keep out of reach of children. Do not swallow. Not to be used for dyeing eyelashes or eyebrows. In case of eye contact, rinse with plenty of water. Conduct a sensitivity test before using this product.
EXTRA INFORMATION:
All of our Certified Organic Henna blends are based upon the Lawsonia inermis plant, a shrub that grows in the deserts of the Middle East, West Asia, and North Africa. This plant contains hannatannic acid and, when mixed with hot water, will coat the hair.
This natural hair coloring process forms a protective coat of rich semi-permanent color around each hair strand. It easily adheres to the hair cuticle and penetrates the cortex region of the hair and develops color easily by natural oxidation. The color is not permanent; it washes out gradually and will not stain or leave any residue on hair. In some cases, hair may appear to have a green hue for the first 24-48 hours after rinsing out the dye. This should fade away as the coloring sets into your hair. Purple or blue hues may also appear, typically on grey, lightly colored, or hair that has been dyed chemically. Applying Henna in the evening will give it more time to develop overnight.
A Henna application will blend naturally and fade gradually without noticeable regrowth. The color may last up to three months and can be applied every 4-6 weeks if desired. Switching from chemical hair colors to organic herbal hair colors may require multiple applications to obtain the desired shade and is dependent on hair condition. If chemicals have not been used in the past, Henna should cover in the first application. Henna can color gray, but may take multiple applications.
Our Henna is not suitable for temporary tattooing.
